Magnetism is a playful and fascinating force, and one that can be used to convey information and suggest movement through the reciprocal, tangible interaction of magnetic fields.

Magnetic Scores explore the compositional and expressive possibilities offered by permanent magnets both in the inscription of musical instructions and in controlling musical parameters through somatosensory feedback.

This project combines Thales,two wireless controllers containing magnetometers and permanent magnets, with a series of magnetically inscribed objects such as wooden boards, tridimensional object or the performative area itself. We are using machine learning in order to dynamically map the discs’ reading with various sound engines, including Neural Synthesis.

Magnetic Scores are ideal to investigate sound in space. The following is an exploration of Neural Audio Synthesis with sound spatialisation.
