Qælia Radio: Interspecies Sound

For the IIL Open Lab this Friday 9th of October, Radio Qælia ~ Interspecies Sounds will be off-site at HafnarHaus Studios (Entrance at Tryggvagata 17, Reykjavík, Wasabi Room). Between 17.00 and 18.00 pm Radio Qælia will share some experimental sound bites, interviews with artists and field recordings, and live-test broadcasting tools to create an interspecies radio experience.

Guest speakers and interviewees include @huanzhe_ (Drifting record, pic 2), seaweed, @heimirfr , Icelandic pollinators, Simon Toolin Remiszewski (Elsewhere project, pic 4), students from the Iceland University of the Arts (odinn.fb pic 6), and more!

Qælia is an Icelandic-French collaboration between Thomas Pausz (Intelligent Instruments Lab researcher) and Zoé Pasquier (K7 Technosensible co-founder). Rooted in Iceland’s rich radio culture and resonant environment, the project tunes in more-than-human sounds, embracing dissonance, polyphony and co-creation. This public Open Lab event is supported by the French Embassy in Iceland.
